Ah, more incidental worldbuilding, always fun. We have, of course, heard of The Conglomerate Age before.

HA: You have nightmares? Gosh, I knew you didn’t filter your external perceptions as much as I do, but I figured…
CP: It’s… it’s a side eff-ff-ffect of th-the synaptic b-booster. My REM happens f-faster th-than a Dreamcatcher c-can interrupt.
HA: So I’m guessing you can’t just use a lucidizer either?
----------------------
CP: I t-t-t-try, believe me. N-no good. D-doesn’t work on me. I d-d-d-dunno.
HA: Are you okay? We should probably stop talking about this.
CP: I’m f-fine. But yes. Grok.
HA: Right, yeah, antique AI toy, the thing we’re supposed to be doing.
----------------------
HA: Oh wow, did you know “Grok” is a Martian word?
CP: Wait, but the first Mars colonies w-weren’t built until after the Maga period had ended. Right? That was… that was a whole thing.
HA: Yeah, weird. Also “Grok” isn’t Martian, it should be “Garokku”… ah, okay, I see. It was from an old science fiction book that took place on a hypothetical Mars. With aliens and stuff.
----------------------
HA: I guess it makes sense that that’s the sort of thing that our Groks would get confused, I don’t think these things’ve actually been updated with new source information since the Conglomerate Age.
CP: Th-that would certainly explain why it k-keeps assuming I’m talking about multiple people whenever I use “they”...
