In case anyone's wondering (and before you contact me to correct my grammar), no, those speech bubbles and sound effects are not Japanese.

Oh, they may look like Japanese. In fact, they may look a lot like Japanese that was translated by a subpar website into German, then back to Japanese, then back to German, then back to Japanese, then transcribed/redrawn sloppily with little regard for which little lines go where. But it's not.

You see, in the latter half of the twenty-first century, Mars was settled by a variety of Asian and European colonists, who, due to a sequence of disasters, needed to work very closely together to survive on the alien planet. Martian started as an improvised pidgin, but, by 2167 (the date of this comic), it is considered a distinct (and popular) language.

Our protagonist, Lee Caldavera, prefers subs to dubs.
